SUMMER HOUSES

Summer houses

Embedded in the sloping landscape of Pefkohori, Chalkidiki, the project consists of three attached summer houses oriented toward the distant sea. Elevated above the coastline, the site offers uninterrupted views while remaining immersed in Mediterranean vegetation. The houses form a staggered sequence that follows the natural inclination of the terrain. Regulatory constraints are absorbed into a rotational geometry that maximizes orientation and privacy through offset volumes rather than enclosure. Light, distance, and shadow define the relationship between neighboring dwellings. At ground level, architecture dissolves into outdoor life. Living spaces open directly onto private courtyards where pools, decks, and shaded dining areas become the primary domestic rooms. Overhanging upper volumes moderate light and temperature, shaping outdoor spaces while allowing each house to contribute to the shading of the next. Private spaces are layered vertically. Secondary bedrooms are embedded into the terrain, while the upper level is dedicated to the master suite, elevated toward the horizon and opening onto framed views. Materiality reinforces the dialogue with place. A stone base anchors the buildings to the ground, while smooth white volumes hover above, emphasizing mass, shadow, and horizontality. The project is conceived as a sequence of open yet protected domestic landscapes shaped by topography, climate, and summer living.
