Situated on the third floor of a historic residential building in Thessaloniki, this apartment renovation reinterprets a traditional setting for contemporary living while preserving the building’s historical character. The project prioritizes natural light, functional spatial organization, and integrated storage, achieved through a subtle reconfiguration of the original layout.
The kitchen, retained in its original position, is completely redesigned to enhance both efficiency and aesthetic presence. A new, elongated corridor now links the entrance and common areas to the rear of the apartment, discreetly incorporating generous storage and a dedicated laundry zone adjacent to the bathroom.
Material choices underscore a calm, warm atmosphere: dark American walnut veneer and flooring are paired with brown upholstery, creating a rich, grounded palette. These darker tones are contrasted by crisp white walls that accentuate the original gypsum moldings, merging classical detailing with minimalist, cozy furniture.
The result is a balanced composition that harmonizes heritage and modernity, offering a refined, practical, and inviting home where spatial efficiency meets subtle elegance.
